Save the date for the 1st-ever Unquiet Art Weekend

WHEN: Friday, July 7th through Sunday, July 9th (2017).

WHAT: A full-immersion art weekend in good company, outside in the warm Summer air, lakeside away from all the hustle, with delicious and nourishing home-cooked meals. It's a long art picnic slumber party!

WHERE: My home in the Lake Margaret community, 15 minutes outside Duvall, WA. The address is 20020 324th Ave NE, Duvall.

WHO: A specially-invited group of women artist friends.

WHY: To make unquiet art as a community of artists while also building friendships and enriching our creative souls.

$$: I am suggesting a $40 contribution from participants to cover food costs. I promise you it will be more than worth it, and dietary preferences/restrictions are generally no problem for me (please inquire in advance about specific food allergies).

If you are interested, email me. I'll ask for commitments in mid-June.

Art is community and many of you know that I am often imagining ways to gather artists with intention. What you may not know is that I also enjoy creating and hosting such experiences, and I truly love to cook and feed people! You can expect yummy, nourishing meals and snacks along with wine and a special cocktail for those who imbibe.

I envision us convening early Friday afternoon to get settled in and having a leisurely dinner together where we get to know each other and release whatever burdens are on our minds. Saturday is a fully-dedicated art day as early as you'd like to begin until as late as you'd like to go, and Sunday wraps up at your own pace after a delicious brunch.

All you have to do is bring your favorite art supplies. And your pillow if you like. Everything else is taken care of. You can show up in comfy clothes and slippers and stay in them all weekend if you like. We have a large, flat area the size of a basketball court that is literally lakeside where I will set up pop-up tents and tables. In the evenings we can gather around the fire pit, roast marshmallows, burn our worries, and fill the air with laughter. My studio is available if you want a quiet space indoors, and there is plenty of space to also spread blankets out on the grass.

You're welcome to bring your kayak or paddle board, and on hot days a quick swim in the lake is quite nice. I also have a collection of water hammocks, kick boards, and tubes for floating. There are no motorized watercraft allowed on our lake so it's quite peaceful. It's roughly a 2-mile walk around the lake if you want to get in some steps.

Overnight accommodations are available. Please let me know if you are staying overnight. Between beds and nice air mattresses and comfy couches, I can sleep 7. There is also space for up to 4 small tents if you want to camp. Of course you are welcome to "commute" but you don't have to go home if you don't want to!

The focus on this weekend is creating art that evokes the spirit of "creative unquiet." I'll provide a gelli print station and a table for art supplies you don't mind sharing during the weekend. And if you really like something you create during this fun weekend, I have reserved the Moonlighters Gallery event in September at Sylvan Bourgette's Moonpaper Tent in Seattle for an Unquiet Art Show.

There are two cats who live with me. There is also the Mr, although he has full-day obligations in Seattle for almost the entire weekend. Our neighbor's friendly dog whom I affectionately refer to as My Puppy Boyfriend will probably also come over for playtime and swimming.
